-
- Cassette is a program to help you design paper inserts which contain
- information for the music on the tape. CASSETTE has several different
- functions to help you design a professional looking paper label.
-
- Main Menu Functions
- =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
-
- INS Press the Insert key to toggle the Insert Mode On or
- Insert Mode On/Off Off. A message in the Bottom right corner of the
- screen gives the insert status. When Insert mode is
- ON all characters typed are inserted at the cursor
- position and all rightmost characters are moved to the
- right.
-
- Ctrl-C Pressing Ctrl-C will center the line
- Center Line according to the position of the cursor.
- Song names are centered by column and
- band titles are centered across the insert.
-
- BckSpc Pressing the back arrow key will move all character
- Destructive Backspace right of the cursor left on space, destroying
- the previous character.
-
- ESC Pressing the escape key will bring you to
- Go to Previous Field the previous field. CASSETTE tries to keep
- tabs on what the current field is, so it may
- not always go the field you think. Be patient
- with it.
-
- DEL Press the delete key to delete the character
- Delete One Character at the cursor and to shift all right
- characters over left.
-
- Ctrl-I Press Control-I to insert a space at the
- Insert Blank Space cursor and move all right characters one space
- to the right.
-
- RETURN Press the return key to go to the next logical
- Go to Next Field field.

- Ctrl-O Bring up the Options menu
-
- Ctrl-L Bring up the Print / Load / Save menu
-
- Ctrl-Q Exit CASSETTE and go to DOS

-
- SPC Press the space bar and the screen will clear
- Start New Label so that a new label may be entered.
-
- ESC Press the escape key to go to the main edit
- Go Back to Editing menu.
-
- PrtSc Press shift-PrtSc to dump the label to the
- Dump Label to Printer printer.
-
- Ctrl-Q Exit CASSETTE and go to DOS
-
- S Press [ S ] and then give a name to save the
- Save Label current label to disk for later usage.
-
- L Press [ L ] and then give a label name to retrieve
- Load Label a previously saved label onto the screen.
-
- M Press [ M ] and then give a label name and the
- Multiple Print number of copies to print to print a saved label.
-
- There are three ways to print a label. You can either dump the label to the
- screen with PrtSc or use the Multiple Print Utility. The third way is the one I
- recommend using. I have included the bare minimum working files from the Public
- Domain version of IMPRINT. Included are the print program (IMP80.EXE) and the
- default font (FONT1). Imprint is a printer program which will print ALL ASCII
- documents in an extremely nice letter quality mode. I strongly suggest obtaining
- a full copy. Anyway, CASSETTE labels are saved in standard ASCII format so
- therefore can be printed using IMPRINT. Drop back to DOS and type:
-
- IMP80 MYLABEL.CAS (Don't forget the .CAS extension!)
-
- You get a title screen with all the author's credits. Press any key once your
- printer is ONLINE and it will print your label. Imprint was designed with print
- quality in mind instead of speed and is EXTREMELY SLOW; be patient! IMPRINT
- seems to work with all IBM Graphics and EPSON compatible printers.
-
-
- Options Menu

-
- ESC Go back to Main edit menu.
-
- Ctrl-Q Quit CASSETTE and go to DOS.
-
- N Press [ N ] to auto-number songs. I suggest
- Number Songs 1-12 that you type all the songs with enough space
- to fit the numbering, save the label, and then
- number. The numbering routine assumes that
- songs start at the first space of the column
- while comments have one or more space before
- them.
-
- D Pressing [ D ] puts the message "Date Recorded:
- Date Recorded 12-07-1986" in the topmost line of the label. The
- Date Recorded is assumed to be today's date.
-
- C Pressing [ C ] clears the topmost line of the label.
- Clear Top Line This is useful if you want get rid of the "Date
- Recorded" message.
-
- Noise Reduction

-
- B Pressing [ B ] selects Dolby (B).
-
- C Pressing [ C ] selects Dolby (C).
-
- H Pressing [ H ] selects Dolby (HX).
-
- X Pressing [ X ] selects Dbx NR.
-
- N or RETURN Pressing [ N ] or the return key selects the
- noise reduction as none.
-
- ESC Pressing the escape key clears the noise
- reduction line so that it may be used as
- further space for songs.
-
- Ctrl-Q Exit CASSETTE and go to DOS.
-
- Ctrl-O Go to the Options menu.
-
- Ctrl-L go to the Print / Load / Save menu.
-
-
- Once a label is Printed
- =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
-
- Once you have the label on paper, you need to cut it around the edges
- with a pair of scissors. Cut around each edge so that a rectangular
- shaped piece of paper remains. Then fold the paper at the top two
- creases. The line your printer makes will probably help make a clean
- fold. If at this point the label does not properly fit into a cassette
- box, then feel adjust your printer to print text in a standard size.
- Condensed, italic, or enlarged print will not work.

- The options menu is reserved for future enhancements. If you have a need
- or want of a new option, contact me and I will see what I can do. For a
- reasonable donation I would be willing to get you the source code for
- this program. I have included a sample label under the name of EXAMPLE.
- By the way, cassette labels are saved with an extension of [ .CAS ] which
- I don't think interferes with any other program. I also hope you enjoy
- the opening credit page, I put too much time into it. Do not modify the
- credits because the program does a short checksum on them to make sure
- they are unmodified and will not execute if they are. Please enjoy the
- program.
